*Gypsy Woman is a rather cute movie. I suspect this is largely because Jack Davenport is absolutely adorable (that man is so hot).

I decided to do that fanfic commentary thing, mostly because I wanted to copy cool people like callmesandy and coffeeandink.

Anyway, I did it on The Teddybear's Picnic, which is perhaps not the best choice as it went down like a lead balloon on release. But, well, three whole people whom I respect and admire like it, and this story is more me than most of my other fanfiction, so it probably gives more insight into my writing brain.

This most recent badness in corners of LotR fandom is just disheartening. There are parts of this fandom that are so cool that it's just sad there are people that suck so hard in the fandom as well. I remember my early days in this fandom when I was still on the BoE list and Victoria Bitter and Orangeblossom Brambleburr posted all the time, and I remember the lotrips lists before I realised Ms Allegro was nuts and the conspiracy theorists popped up everywhere and I remember when Whores of the Ring was a nice fun place and not a group of exclusive bitches I was no longer allowed to be part of and... There are so many things in this fandom even I'm pissed about and I haven't been half as involved with this fandom as other people. I can see how it can be hard to feel anything but betrayed.

I will say that I am really grateful to wonderful people like sharpest_rose, juleskicks, butterfly, eiluned and many other wonderful people like them for making my LotR fandom experience now so much happier, more informative and generally fulfilling than it would otherwise be. You all rock.

You know, I get that a lot of people find places like Fandom Wank amusing and harmless. I don't. I think they're just cruel. I do realise that other people's misfortunes and their lesser qualities can be funny, but it doesn't make you less of a bitch for laughing at them or attacking them. I've been cruel in my life but I'm just not that much of a bitch to enjoy those kinds of places. I neither know nor care whether this is a popular opinion.

Gilmore Girls was fairly good this week. As cute as usual, generally. I still think Jess is a dick and I can't see that changing any time soon.

I am so glad Channel 9 brought Smallville back. 'Ryan' was such a cool episode. Clark and Lex are so in love. I love how Lex came in like everyone's white knight. Ryan's little crush on Lana was cute and the kid was a lot more likeable in this ep than his previous, so no wonder they killed him off. Clark learned an important lesson, Lex had really cool lines and Chloe and Pete were in the same scene together. What more could I want.

I made more LJ icons. As with my last icon post, take whichever you want, do what you want with them, no need to credit. This batch doesn't suck too bad (even I'm using some of them).
